Shay Bennett (he/ they)

Born and raised in Kalamazoo, I’m the oldest of five siblings and very close with my family. Creativity has always been a big part of who I am. I love drawing, painting, and crocheting in my free time. When I’m not working on something artistic, you can usually find me spending time with my partner or friends, whether that’s watching TV, playing games, or heading out to a show.

I graduated from Loy Norrix High School and completed cosmetology school in 2022. I have three years of hands-on salon experience, including work with children who have autism and other special needs. I understand that for many families, haircuts can feel overwhelming, which is why I prioritize patience, flexibility, and creating a calm, supportive environment.

I am comfortable adapting each appointment to meet individual sensory, communication, and comfort needs. Whether that means taking breaks, adjusting the pace, explaining each step clearly, or modifying tools and techniques, I believe every client deserves a haircut experience that feels safe and respectful.

As an LGBTQIA+ stylist, I’m passionate about making sure everyone who sits in my chair feels welcomed, affirmed, and valued. My goal is always to provide a haircut and style that works best for you; whether it’s a simple trim or a bold transformation. I’m committed to continually learning new techniques and approaches to ensure each client has the most positive experience possible.
